SOFTWARE ENGINEER

David Mo

Full Stack Backend Systems Cloud

I build reliable web applications, APIs and cloud-hosted systems with a focus on clean architecture, data integrity and practical user experience.

ABOUT

Engineering with an analytical foundation.

I’m a software engineer with experience building web applications, backend services and cloud-hosted systems. My work spans TypeScript and Node.js platforms, React interfaces, APIs, relational and document databases, and production deployments.

Before moving fully into software engineering, I worked in physics research. That background still shapes how I approach engineering: understand the system, interrogate the data, isolate the problem, and build solutions that can be explained and maintained.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Software engineering and scientific research.

Two areas of work grounded in problem solving, precision and building a clear understanding of complex systems.

Engineering informed by science.

My scientific foundation strengthens my engineering approach through analytical thinking, attention to detail and a focus on reliable, maintainable solutions.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Tools are secondary. Systems thinking comes first.

SELECTED WORK

Software built around real problems.

BACKGROUND

From materials physics to software systems.

My academic background is in physics and materials science, including research involving nanotechnology, semiconductor materials and synchrotron techniques. Moving into software engineering changed the medium, not the underlying approach to solving difficult problems.

That combination of scientific analysis and software engineering is particularly useful when building data-intensive products, research platforms and systems where correctness matters.
